You may have fond memories of playing with LEGOs growing up, but did you know some of these toy brick sets actually carry a lot of value?

If you’re looking to make some extra cash, some of these valuable LEGO sets can fetch you upwards of $10,000. For this list we will be omitting minifigures, and will focus solely on LEGO box sets. These are just some of the most valuable LEGO sets in no particular order! Plus, all prices depend on condition and the LEGO market.

  1. LEGO Monorail Airport Shuttle (6399)

This set was released in 1990, and contains 9 minifigures. It was a part of the old town and airport theme. Many praise this set for its size and detail. If boxed, you can expect to make around $7,000 on this LEGO set. A used LEGO Monorail can still get you $1,000. 

  1. LEGO Castle (6075-2)

Released in 1981, this bright yellow castle is now valued at over $1,300 if it is sealed. Having an original retail price of $48.00, this castle has truly appreciated. If you have a pre-owned version of this set you may fetch $350.

  1. LEGO Command Center (493)

Seeing growth of almost 9,000%, this vintage LEGO set released in 1978 originally sold for $14.99. This LEGO Command Center set now goes for over $1,300. Used LEGO Command Centers are valued at about $160. 

  1. LEGO Fire Station (1308)

Released in 1957, the LEGO Fire Station retailed for $4.50. In today’s market the fire station set can sell for upwards of $5,300 if boxed. Due to its age, this set is very hard to find, especially sealed. Pre-owned versions of this set still go for a whopping $1,650.

  1. LEGO ESSO Filling Station (1310)

This vintage LEGO set is extremely hard to find thanks to its age. Retailing in 1956 for $3.75, this LEGO set is estimated to have a value of over $3,000 in today’s market. Even if your set is used, it can still fetch $1,500.

  1. LEGO VW Auto Showroom (1307)

The LEGO VW Auto Showroom set was released in 1957 and sold for $4.25. If you find a new version of this set, you can make upwards of $3,000. Used LEGO VW Auto Showrooms go for approximately $1,500.

  1. LEGO Space Police Mission Commander (6986)

Originally retailing for $49.99, the LEGO Space Police Mission Commander now goes for $3,300 if sealed in the box. Used versions tend to sell within the $200 range

  1. LEGO Crusaders King’s Mountain Fortress (6081)

Hitting shelves in 1990, this vintage LEGO set retailed for $58.00. In the current market, a sealed version of this set goes for $3,000 while used sets go for around $250. 

  1. LEGO Milk Truck (1952)

The LEGO Milk Truck was a promotional set given away for free in 1989. A new version of this set can fetch $1,600. Used versions typically bring in $170. A pre-owned LEGO Milk Truck will get you about $170. 

  1. LEGO Pirates Rock Island Refuge (6273)

This LEGO set was released in 1991 with a price tag of $66.00. The set came with 7 minifigures, and if you have a seal box you can get $1,600. Used sets are valued around $220. 

  1. LEGOLAND Maersk Line Container Ship (1650)

Released as a promotional set in 1974, a used version of this set can sell for $1,000. Unopened versions can go for $3,000. 

  1. LEGO Maersk Line Container Lorry (1651-2)

Another promotional Maersk LEGO, this collector’s set is now valued around $3,500 for sealed versions. This is an extremely rare set that does not turn up often in the market. 

  1. LEGO Lion Knights King’s Castle (6080)

Yet another LEGo Castle set has made it onto this list. This LEGO set was released in 1984 and has appreciated over 5,000% over the years. If you have a sealed box set, you can get around $2,500. If you have a pre-owned set you can get $200.

  1. LEGO Galaxy Commander (6980)

Appreciating over 4,600% over the years, this LEGO set retailed for $59.99 originally. If you have a new boxed set you can earn about $2,800 whereas a used set will get you around $190.

  1. LEGO Pirates Black Seas Barracuda (6285)

Originally retailing for $109.99, sealed sets now go for $2,600. If you have a used set you can get about $350. Check to see if you have all 8 minifigures that go with this set. 

Should You Keep LEGO Boxes? 

If you think there is a chance at any point of reselling the LEGO set, then yes keep the box. LEGOs can fetch more money if you have the original box they came in. Oftentimes, LEGO sets become more collectible as time passes. So, keep those boxes handy in case you are looking to resell.
